Draw Near

This day in Christian History...
1745 -
Colonial missionary to the American Indians David Brainerd wrote in his journal:
'I am often weary of this world, and want to leave it on that account; but it is more desirable to be drawn, rather than driven out of it.'

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him:
and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:44

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience,
and our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 10:22
Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.
Song of Solomon 1:4

But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
Psalm 73:28

Drawn Near....
As the Father speaks, the heart listens
for the sheep know His voice
and they follow Him.
When in the quiet you are drawn,
fly away beloved,
for the communion is sweet.
The heart is enraptured with His love,
the soul takes flight,
and the burdens becomes light.
When the Savior calls your name
and joy floods your being,
do not hesitate.
Life cannot sweeter be
until we see
clearly in the looking glass.
For now we press on
while drawn away
into His presence,
for here
we find sweet rest to our souls
and strength for the battles.
Tarry there beloved one,
for the Father enjoys your company!
Tarry there beloved one,
and rest upon His shoulder.

Listen to His heartbeat,
find shelter in His arms.
As you are Drawn Near,
into His chambers
breathe deeply of God's Love.

This day in History...

1566:
Birth of James VI of Scotland. Upon the death of Elizabeth I in 1603, he ascended the English throne as James I. He is best remembered for authorizing the publication known today as the 'King James Version' (KJV) of the Bible.
Whatever sane version you use...just read it. :)
How far we have declined....
June 19, 1987:
The U.S. Supreme Court strikes down a Louisiana law requiring public schools
to teach creationism if they taught evolution.

Calvary Love

If I am perturbed by the reproach

and misunderstanding that may follow action

taken for the good of souls

for whom I must give account;

if I cannot commit the matter

and go on in peace and in silence,

remembering Gethsemane and the cross,

then I know nothing of Calvary love.

Hershey's Chocolate Cook Book

Shopping through a second hand store the other day
for some VBS items, I spotted it...!

The Hershey's Chocolate Cook Book

A 1989 version that still contains recipes from scratch.
The images are enough to fill your head with chocolate dreams.
Thankfully it is too warm to turn on the oven,
and when I do I can always take the chocolaty items into church to share.
But for today I will share with you a recipe I spotted for this weekend.

Pears au Chocolat

It can be quickly made on the stove, and the best part about it is that I can make the Pear for me, and use the sauce over ice cream for my husband, who does not particulary like fruit. I know he would prefer the cakes or cookies in the future.

Ok, back to VBS shopping.

Thought for this Thursday...truth

The church would be one with itself
if it were one with the truth.
~ CH Spurgeon
TRUTH

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. III John 1:4

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
1John 3:18
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth. II Timothy 2:25
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. II Timothy 2:15
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? Galatians 3:1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth 1Corinthians 13:6
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: Proverbs 3:3
UNITY
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! Psalm 133:1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: Ephesians 4:13
~~~~~~~~~~~
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:3
Love
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
1Corinthians 13:13
~~~~~~~~~~~~
How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thine ointments than all spices! Song of Solomon 4:10

When the church is one, as the Bride of Christ,
ahhh what a pleasant aroma we will be to our Savior,
endeavor to be that sweet aroma now.

Divine Protection

Well it's like this. Mom in law lives with us and since we have a gas stove it is also a good idea to have a carbon monoxide monitor. I was told to take the nobs off of the stove at night just in case she came in the kitchen at night and turned them. We also use a gate to remind her to go the other way at night to go back to bed. All those saftey precautions in place and it's me that trips the monitor!

I was saying good bye to Brad this morning as he was getting his motorcycle ready for work. It was a cooler morning than it has been so I left the back door open. I saw the cool breeze blowing the curtain in. Since I knew the day was to be warmer I left the door open. After my husband left, I went back in. I instantly smelled the exhaust! So I went to open all the doors and windows, but by this time the monitor was beeping loudly and my first thought was... oh no it's going to wake mom. She was safe with her door closed and farther away, so I turned on all the fans and by this time was getting dizzy. That THING was still beeping and I just knew it was going to wake her up, so I went back in the kitchen to get some towels and rubber bands to cover the THING. Now I am dizzy and my heart is acting funny. Oh no, get out now! Went to the front door, and breathed in fresh air. If I pass out here the neighbors will see me.That THING is still beeping. I better get the phone, and mom out of bed...wait...it's stopped. I knew mom was alright all along thanks to the baby monitor...I could hear her snoring deeply as usual in the morning. But as soon as all the comotion and noise was over she walks out of her room and asks what all the noise is about and why it's so cold in here. I tell her it was me and everything is fine, and she looks at me funny and goes back to bed. :) After that I took her to day care.

Ok, now that my brain is thinking with oxygen I can see that this carbon monoxide stuff is more dangerous than I ever would have thought. Especially with my allergies to chemicals. No problems yet, but it sometimes take up to 24 hours for symptoms to appear, apart from a headache I feel fine. For now all is queit on the Northern front, and I think I should keep the door closed while the motorcycyle is warming up. Praise God for His tender loving care, and divine protection!

Birthday Drive

My dear Husband took me for a drive last week for my Birthday. Along the way we found a dear just watching us by the side of the road....he decided to leave when he was good and ready.

The sky was just beautiful!

Along the drive we found the Golf Course Club House and stopped in for a Mexican lunch, Yum!

Everything was so green.
And of course these were waiting for me at home!

All in all it was a lovely day, as the grandbabies brought their parents over that night for a bbq as well on their first free time since back from vacation, and then we "celebrated" my birthday last Saturday with a bbq, as I received a gift for a birthday meal at a local German Restaraunt for Sunday Dinner. So my Birthday "week" was quite eventful, and wunderbar!

Ziploc Omlet

I found this handy dandy tip for a crowd at breakfast time in my email box this morning from a friend who said her mom sent it to her. Thanks so much for sharing Jody!

ZIPLOC OMELET
(This works great !!! Good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet !!!)
Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker.
Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.
Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc.
Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.
Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes [we did 15 minutes]. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.
Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.
Nice to serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake; everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece...
