Grandma Ladybug's website pick

Morning all, Grandma Ladybug here and I thought I would share a lovely site I came across for kids. As moms, and homeschool moms, and teachers we are always looking for great ways to share God's word with our children. It is an interactive site that does not ask for personal info, and does not chat with you or your child, but offers a wonderful slower paced video type story for younger children that shares God's word. As you follow the path through Paradise Valley you can click on the Lamp that illuminates verses in the Bible. The site is called My Place with Jesus by the It is Written Ministry.
Have a great day in Jesus!
Grandma Ladybug..."This lady loves Jesus and to share Him with others, unfortunately this "bugs" some hence the endearing nick name.

The Simple Woman's Day Book

FOR TODAY February 16, 2009
Outside my window...Ice banks covered in fresh snow
I am thinking...In the sweet by, and by, we shall meet on that beautiful shore, in the sweet byb and by we shall meet on that glorious shore!
I am thankful for...God's Love
From the kitchen...Gluten free sugar free oatmeal raisin, almond bars
I am wearing...An olive skirt , black blouse, Polka dot apron, black sandals, and my hair twisted up in a pencil.
I am creating... an upclycled outfit from clothes in my closet, I cut up an old denim duster and am making it more feminine with added ruffles, and making it a two piece jacket and skirt by adding more fabric. I love denim as it lasts so long, but this piece has been too big and I am finally going to be able to wear it soon.
I am going...to heaven soon, just waiting on the Rapture
I am reading... Jesus love letters to me, and sewing patterns, and re-reading Revelation and notes...chapters 1-6 now posted on Domestically Inclined Devotions Page
I am hoping... for Jesus to come back for His Bride very soon!
I am hearing...my maids washing and drying the clothes...(the washer and the dryer)
Around the house...A new Thomas Kinkade Puzzle in a 1,00 pieces just waiting to be conquered.
One of my favorite things...A good hair day
A few plans for the rest of the week: simple practical organizational work around the house
Here is a picture for you....Our sons a few years ago at a restaruant with their friend the Moose.

May Gods love shine through you

No one explains Love better than the source of love...God Himself.
I Corinthians 13

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Mature Couple Sitting on a Bench Laughing by Kellie Walsh
Mature Couple Sitting on a Bench Laughing

I've seen this go through email rounds in the past, and just thought I would share a good laugh with you....no I'm not poking fun at the elderly...I see myself in here... do you?

L I V E , L A U G H , L O V E
I THINK I'VE HAD THIS FOR A WHILE.
AAADD KNOW THE SYMPTOMS. . . . . PLEASE READ!
Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder. Somehow I feel better, even though I have it! ! Recently, I was diagnosed with A. A. A. D. D. -
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests: I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.
As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.
I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table , and notice that the can is full.
So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first.
But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left.
My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Pepsi aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over.
The Pepsi is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need water.
I put the Pepsi on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.
I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.
So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.
Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day: the car isn't washed the bills aren't paid there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter the flowers don't have enough water, there is still only 1 check in my check book, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired.
I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail. . . Do me a favor. Forward this message to everyone you know, because I don't remember who I've sent it to. Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!

Reply to comments on Discernment vs. Deception

After posting on Discernment vs. Deception, I received a few comments from The Southern Housewife that I would like to follow up on.

Monika,

Thank you for pointing this site out! I know this is probably not what you were hoping for, but when I read this website, I was absolutely behind it. I did sign the petition. I did read Lear's speech.

I believe in the religious freedom of all men. Although I am a practicing and devoted Christian, it is not my place to judge who or what is right and condemn them. That is His job. All I can do is take care of myself and my family and help others when I can.

I agree with his comments about our last administration and I don't think it was run in a very Christian way.

Although we disagree on this issues, I will continue to visit your blog as I am always so inspired by it. It is something that I look forward to reading. I would sincerely hope that disagreeing on things would not diminish friendship and fellowship. :)

In Him,
Jennifer

The Southern Housewife’s second reply…
I was just thinking about my comment to you and I HOPE that I did not come off sounding as mean or judgemental as that was NOT my intention. please please please don't take away anything negative from it. hugs!

Thank you so much Jennifer for leaving your comments! No, I am not offended, and I certainly do not hope for all readers to agree with “me”. Your comments do not diminish the relationship we have in any way, and again please, be at peace, I just could not reply fully last night, and hugs to you too!

The reason I posted Discernment vs. Deception, was to encourage believer’s in Jesus to hide God’s word in their heart, to guard their heart with all diligence, because what goes into our hearts, affects everything that we do, or say or think, or read about. The enemy of our souls would love to deceive us into thinking that there is no absolute truth but I know that Jesus is the way the truth and the life. So it is by God’s word, His standard, that believer’s are to discern situations in their lives, to judge between what is good and evil. Yes, I said judge. However the judging we are to do is for identification, not condemnation. I did not condemn anyone in the previous post, I merely stated what the Word of God says that exposes the falsehood in the movement of Born Again American, and People for the American Way, and like a watchman on the wall I am warning any who will seriously take it to heart.
I too believe in Religious Freedom, and I base that on the fact that Almighty God gives us a choice to love Him or not. Jesus does not demand our love just because He died on the cross for our sins. He gave His love freely, and would love to have our love returned freely. If God made us love Him in return we would be nothing more than His computers stuffed with formulas for a determined outcome… that would not be love. The God of the Universe desires our love and our communion… that is amazing to me!
My devotion is to Jesus Christ, and if a cause or a movement differs from the absolute truth, I cannot in my heart follow it as it would be dishonoring to my Jesus.

Thank you again Jennifer for your comments, and your willingness to agree to disagree so politely. The law of kindness was on your tongue as it should be, and I pray that mine is ever and only the same towards you or any other who may disagree with me. It is iron that sharpens iron, and when that happens a few sparks may fly, but my hope is that those sparks would ignite a fire and a deeper longing for the word of God rather than a false fire from the enemy that destroys relationships.

The main idea of the original post was to encourage others to look at everything in life through the eyes of God’s word and use discernment, which only comes through God’s word, may it bring believer’s closer together in thought word and deed, as we rely on the Holy Spirit. May other’s know that we are Christians not by our unity for unity’s sake but by our love based on the actual word’s that come from God’s mouth written in His love letters to us…The Bible.

Discernment vs. Deception

Discernment vs. Deception
We are not immune to deception, there is no inoculation against it, no short cut! We NEED to know the word of God.
Websters Dictionary…
DECEP'TION, n.1. The act of deceiving or misleading.
All deception is a misapplication of the established signs used to communicate thoughts.
2. The state of being deceived or misled. Incautious and inexperienced youth is peculiarly exposed to deception.
3. Artifice practiced; cheat; as, a scheme is all deception.

False teachers:
Lead by their sensual feelings
Subversive in the church
And others will be drawn away
to false doctrines of demons

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. Galatians 1:6-10
There is nothing new under the sun, Satan has no “new” tricks.
Genesis 3…the enemy caused Eve to question the word of God. The enemy went after the woman, where was Adam, her protector? No where to be seen. Did she wander off on her own, possibly, but had he been aware of what his wife was doing, perhaps she would not have been deceived. The Bible warns us against being silly women...or there may be consequences.

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
II Timothy 3:1-7.

Just because Professors speak with authority doesn’t mean they are speaking the TRUTH….and yes…there is such a thing as absolute truth! The worldly just choose their own absolute truth so they don’t have to accept God’s absolute truth into their own life.Jesus is the way, the TRUTH and the life!
I can not beg you, urge you, no... implore you to check everything by the word of God often enough!
What mechanic would dream of putting a Porsche together using a manual written by a History Professor who “feels” like he knows the “way” to put together a Porsche engine.

Webster’s Dictionary…
DISCERN, v.t. s as z. [L., to separate or distinguish, Gr.]
1. To separate by the eye, or by the understanding. Hence,
2. To distinguish; to see the difference between two or more things; to discriminate; as, to discern the blossom-buds from the leaf-buds of plants.
Discern thou what is thine--Gen 31.
3. To make the difference.
For nothing else discerns the virtue or the vice.
4. To discover; to see; to distinguish by the eye.
I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding. Prov 7.
5. To discover by the intellect; to distinguish; hence, to have knowledge of; to judge.
So is my lord the king to discern good and bad. 2 Sam 14.
A wise mans heart discerneth time and judgment. Eccl 8.

Webster's Dictionary...
DISCERN, v.i.
1. To see or understand the difference; to make distinction; as, to discern between good and evil, truth and falsehood.
2. To have judicial cognizance.

READ JUDE!

Do not allow anyone to draw you away from the pure simplicity of devotion of Jesus!
Be in prayer, have your Bible open and pray, and as we walk through this life, sow love to draw back those that have been drawn away by deception.
All that said, use God's word to discern the following movement hosted at the following site.

The site is Born again American
The video began with Norman Lear. Below is a quote from him as to why he used the term Born Again American

"I use the phrase BORN AGAIN AMERICAN for another reason. Robert Bellah has pointed out that any functioning society needs two great myths to propel it forward -- a shared national myth and a shared religious myth. Often overlooked in the United States, in Bellah’s words, is an elaborate, well-entrenched civil religion that exists alongside of, and clearly differentiated from our churches, and synagogues. This civil religion has a religious dimension that has the seriousness and integrity of any other religion, and requires the same care and understanding." read the full story here

By the way....the lyrics are My country tis of THEE.... not my country tis of ME.

This site encourages your involvement in People for the American Way. If your way is to stop "discrimention against gay couples" and encourage acceptance of families in any shape, or form or gender, then this site is for you.

This is a FAITH based movement...not Faith in God and the Jesus of the Bible, just to "have Faith".

Use discernment, or be deceived.

Guard your heart with all dilligence, for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23

Happy Birthday Stephen!

H A P P Y
B I R T H D A Y
S T E P H E N !

Happy Birthday to our oldest son!
He is now 26 years old, and has a beautiful wife who loves Jesus, what more could a man ask for in a wife!

They have a precious little daughter with such a beautiful quiet spirit at the young age of one, (which speaks volumes of mommy and daddy) and soon to have another.

May Jesus bless you today as you live your life for Him and shine brightly in a dark world with the love of Jesus. May your numbers come out exactly, (which helps when you are a CPA), may you have time to catch a Hockey Game, and may you have the time to share your birthday week with your friends and family, because we love you.
May your little ones bless you as much and more than you have your dad and I.
You have taken heed to the instructions in God's word and accepted them into your life. May God bless you exceedingly and abundantly above anything you could ask or even think, and always remember that you are "Accepted in the Beloved"
Love, Mom and Dad

To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
A wise man will hear, and will increase learning;

and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
Proverbs 1:2-5
