Regarding the Talking Book

"Many books in my library are now behind and beneath me; I read them years ago, with considerable pleasure; I have read them since with disappointment; I shall never read them again. They were good in their way once, and so were the clothes I wore when I was ten years old — but I have outgrown them. Nobody ever outgrows Scripture; the book widens and deepens with our years. The deeper you dig into Scripture, the more you find that it is a GREAT abyss of TRUTH."

— Excerpted from C. H. Spurgeon's sermon #1017 "THE TALKING BOOK" Written by BOB L. ROSS

When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. Proverbs 6:22

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 1Corinthians 13:11

And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Ecc 12:12-14

God has written the law, God's heart, upon fleshly tables of our hearts where it is to be revered with adoration. God did not just place His law in our hands where it can be set down, misplaced or lost. The intent of His heart is not to be spoken of as if we are ashamed of it, but with boldness seasoned with grace to keep us from cutting off ears.

Why? So the Word of God can lead us, protect us, and be our companion. For if left to oursleves we will wander off the right path, get into deep trouble, and be lonely misreable wretches. No other book is "living" like the Word of God. It is through the ministry of the Holy Spirit that the words of our Savior speak to our hearts and bring us peace and joy and comfort in time of need...it brings us boldness in spiritual battles, and protection from the attacks of the enemy...it showers us with the love we so desperately need. Do you have a need? The answer is in the "Talking Book" as Charles Spurgeon called it, for it is a book that is not merely to be read, but will speak to your spirit. Go ahead, indulge yourself in the depths of the precious jewels of the Word of God, for it's TRUTHS are timeless, and will always accomplish what God sends it out to accomplish.

For now the "Living Word" the "Talking Book" is two dimensional, but one day we will SEE Him face to face, clearly. Until then commune with Jesus to your hearts desire and come to adore Him more and more, rest in His arms and receive of His heart the Spirit of the law as opposed to the letter of the law.

Today in Christian History

Today in Christian History...

1725 - English founder of Methodism John Wesley wrote in a letter: 'I can't think that when God sent us into the world He had irreversibly decreed that we should be perpetually miserable in it.'

Rejoice for one day soon...

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. Revelation 19:7

Back online with Blogger!

I don't know how many of you have had trouble connecting to your Blogger sites this past week or so, but I've been one of them. I checked with Blogger and they said many sites have had trouble with the Internet Explorer opening the site. It would open for a few seconds and then abort the operation. There has also been some trouble with sites regarding China, although I'm not up on all the detatils with that. Something about China not allowing some Blogger sites to be accessed from their end.

I'm glad to be back online, and have so missed hearing from so many of you!

In the meantime I have used the time to transplant my seddlings to the front porch and put up some Vinyl Blinds out front to disapate some of the west facing heat that will hopefully come our way.

I've also had some much needed time with someone from church who came over to help me with a worship music project or organinzing and alphabetizing the song sheets for Friday Nights Kids worship. Thanks Gail!

I'ts has been nice taking time to practice playing the Guitar again, I say THE guitar as it is my husbands Martin, but he shares with me. My fingers tips have gotten so tender that they pain me even now while I type...must practice more!

It was a lovely Memorial Day Weekend, with blessed beautiful days that made me feel all the more guilty which reminded me to pray for our military who spent their Memorial Day across the world in a huge desert away from their loved ones. Father I know that You can reach down to wherever they are and comfort them and protect them and keep them and their families in Your tender care. We ask that You would and Praise You for doing so for so long.

One more thing while I was not online, it was the weekend of our youngest sons 21st birthday. Praying for you Mike that Jesus would hold you tight and draw you evercloser to Himself. Love you, and miss you. Love Momma!

The Simple Womans Day Book

For Today...
Outside my window... Constant rain.
I am thinking... How wonderful it is that my peas and lettuce and onions are being watered gently.
I am thankful that... We have a warm dry home to be in while it is raining
From the kitchen... Clean swept and mopped floors, a shiny sink, mother's day flowers on the table.
I am wearing... Black socks and shoes, blue skirt, white tshirt with lace, and flowered shirt.
I am reading... emails
I am hoping... the weather will cooperate with my plans this week, because it didn't last week.
I am creating... Lesson plans
I am praying... friends and family
Around the house... a blossoming bare root apple tree and nectarine tree, only a few more years till fruit!
One of my favorite things... quiet for more than 1 minute
A few plans for the rest of the week... possibly a shopping trip, Bible study
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...I don't usually like store bought "Gluten Free" baked goods, but I found a Biscotti that is "GF" and it's pretty good. I found Pamelas Biscotti at the Outlet store for only one dollar a box! So I picked up quite a few boxes to refill my beautiful Biscotti Jar that I got for Christmas a while back from my youngest son Mike. It's is always nice to have a few in there to share with a cup of coffee or tea when others stop by.

Today is my Spiritual Birthday!

A slight departure from Frugal Friday posts, as today is a special day for me. It is my Birthday!
My Spiritual Birtday!
I still have the Bible my Sunday School Teacher gave to me with the date inscribed, May 8th, 1972. He was such a wonderful older gentle man, and he made sure that after I accepted Jesus he gave me a Bible to read. I accepted Jesus as my Savior ....ohhh my...37 years ago!

It was at Vacation Bible School in the inner city of Los Angeles. The times around us were getting better with much of the riots accross the railroad tracks in Compton over. We lived in a town called South Gate. The dad of a friend of mine from school drove the JOY bus to pick us all up for Sunday School. If we all invited enough friends to fill the bus, the bus driver, Mr. Mc Bride, would by ice cream cones for each one of us, and we managed to get those ice cream cones about three times a summer. It was nice for mom to be able to send us off to Sunday School in the bus that picked us up from in front of our house. You see, shewould then go to the nursing home to pick up dad, as he was ill with cancer, and bring him home so we could all spend the afternoon together.

It is amazing that Jesus would die for such a sinner as I. To leave the presence of God, the only home He had ever known, to come to an earth that would ridicule Him, beat Him, crucify Him, and mock Him to this day. And yet, I know I have the hope and future of living eternally in heaven with MY Jesus one day. Until then, I share Him with you!
Jesus is waiting, waiting for you to come to Him, to surrender your life to Him, to give you life abundantly!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, so that whosoever believes in Him, he will not perish, but have everasting life!
John 3:16

Prayer Request

My husband's bosses dad has been extremely ill lateley and we have been in prayer for him. I just learned this morning that he was in critical condition, but is now just still in intensive care. Would you please pray for his healing and his salvation. God knows all the details, but we would appreciate it if you would stand with us in prayer.
Thank you so much! God bless you as you take time to lift him up before the throne.

Watch and Learn

I used to Volunteer through Area agency on Aging for a retired school teacher. As we got to know each other she shared some things about being a teacher. One of the things she spoke to me about was Outcome Based Education, which turns out is not Education at all, but a way to change the student to think the way the teacher...system...wants them to. I had heard of Outcome Based Education before, and ran into much difficulty with the public school which our children attended in the early years before we finally obeyed our calling and homschooled them. This retired teacher gave me a manual that the teachers were given to systematically change the "beliefs" of students that did not fit
"their" norm. The manual also described in detail the "Outcome" that was encouraged...expected in the students lives. This finally confirmed to me that these ideas were not just the idle thinking of an individual teacher, but there was a "plan".
Years later, actually today, I came across a video of Charlotte Iserbyt. She served as Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI), U.S. Department of Education, during the first Reagan Administration, where she first blew the whistle on a major technology initiative which would control curriculum in America's classrooms."
It comes as no surprise that this "plan" is much bigger than I realized all those years ago. The deceit and audacity is always amazing, and goes so far as using "sensitivity training" on the teachers and principals.

What do I know of Holy?

With all the talk of preparedness in regard to food, and pandemics and guns, and disasters and earthquakes and so much more, what are we doing to prepare our hearts to meet Almighty God? It looks like it may be sooner than later so don't put off the spiritual preparedness for another moment.

Frugal Friday

Thank God it's Friday!
