February 5th, 1736

1736 - The English Wesley brothers, John (32) and Charles (28) first arrived in America at Savannah, GA. They had been invited by Georgia governor James Oglethorpe as missionaries to the American Indians.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ,
as though God did beseech you by us:
we pray you in Christ's stead,
be ye reconciled to God.
II Corinthians 5:20

I went to Bible college in Chattanooga, TN ... and Ft. Oglethorpe, GA was right across the border. It must be named after this governor!
