Where have all the Ladies gone?

Portrait Of A Lady, Seated by John Russell
Portrait Of A Lady, Seated

It was my sad experience to shop in a local establishment and see the open rebellion of our sex.

Even within the confines of woman/woman relationships beyond the God given lines an outsider can see that they still look to God for their example of a relationship. How? They still take on male and female roles. One will "look" the part of the female and one will "look" the part of the male. Behavior like this openly displayed is the ruin of a country. God has to judge it according to His holiness. He has a set of standards by which mankind is to live by...the Bible. Like it or not, believe it or not...it is the TRUTH.

My heart broke that day as I shopped. Crying while in the store was not something I had planned, or something on my to do list. My heart ached because I know the truth of God's word and that behavior like this breaks HIS heart. God loves them and yet they are choosing to go their own way.

Remember the old saying...I'm only saying this because I love you, if I didn't care I wouldn't say anything.

God IS Love, and He did say it all in His love letters. Don't walk in your own ways, but come unto Me. Those who surrender their lives will gain it.

I can't help but wonder if feminists realize just how wicked their rebellion really is.

Pears Soap, Matchless for the Complexion
Pears Soap, Matchless for the Complexion

"I am most anxious to enlist everyone who can speak or write to join in checking this mad, wicked folly of 'Women's Rights,' with all its attendant horrors, on which her poor feeble sex is bent, forgetting every sense of womanly feelings and propriety. Feminists ought to get a good whipping. Were woman to 'unsex' themselves by claiming equality with men, they would become the most hateful, heathen and disgusting of beings and would surely perish without male protection."
~ Queen Victoria, March, 1870.

Thank God some know the importance of God's order of things.

"The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity."
~ Margaret D. Nadauld

There is no spectacle on earth more appealing than that of a beautiful woman in the act of cooking dinner for someone she loves."
~ Thomas Wolfe

Praying mothers, teaching mothers, faithful mothers – the Church needs you. She needs mothers who will crave children, and love them and bless them to be the warriors of the next generation.
Motherhood! Blessed motherhood! The time has come to once again sing the praises of this calling. Though bloodied by the barbs of feminism, Christian motherhood will not be vanquished.

God-The Master Gardener

Lady, Lady, quite contrary, how does your garden grow?

Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. Matthew 13:30

I was out in the garden yesterday enjoying the first real weed pulling session I have been able to do since I injured my knee earlier this year. My husband did insist on pulling a round of weeds about a month ago while I watercolor painted and watched him! Now that was difficult! Praise God for a husband who helps by pulling weeds, and time in the garden for myself now!

It has been cruel patience building time waiting to get out there and pull the weeds that I had to just watch take over the flower beds. Although I did sneak out there and pull the weeds that had the audacity to grow up to 4 feet tall! It was easy to pull those, I didn't even have to bend over. How obvious those rascals were! Manipulating their way into the life of a rose or lavendar or sage bush, weaving in and out and around trying to choke the life out of the plant and draw the nutrients away from the roots! I was able to get to the low grass and weeds encroaching the edge of the flower beds yesterday. The roots of the grass were even more trickly, they wove in and around one another and stuck together tightly to make it even more difficult to pull them out from where they did not belong.

The roses seemed to smile and say thank you for relieving them of such undo stress upon their livelihood.

Even the plums are happy, or maybe I'm happy to see plums!

It was a warm summer morning, and the sky was clear and blue with gorgeous picturesque clouds.

All this and a weed free herb and flower garden!

If only life could be weed free. It's not a surprise to me as God has already warned me that in these last days the wheat and the tares will grow up side by side. In this time when the heart of many will grow cold. Interestingly God says it will "grow" cold implying a time of "lukewarmness" exposing the Laodicean church in our midst. Like the roots of the mighty Pines who's roots grow deep, we are to grow deep in our love and communion with our Lord Jesus. We are not to be a shallow people who's roots come out easily like that of a tare. As the tares multiply around the wheat they seem to grow stronger but in the end it will be God who does the judging and the weeding. As we draw our strength from our Lord Jesus, our roots grow deeper, and our love for Him grows deeper yet! Have we learned to STAND in God's promises, and STAND on His WORD, and revel in the love He pours out upon us? Or do we let the tares choke us out?

Worship

Fine music without devotion
is but a splendid garment upon a corpse.

~Charles Spurgeon

It is the heart that our dear Lord looks upon in this life.
God alone sees the motives and intents of our hearts.
Worship the One TRUE God for HE alone is worthy of our worship.

Can you imagine what it will be like to be in heaven and hearing the multitudes rasing their voices in sweet surrender to their King? What a day of recjoicing that will be. Such a glorious, brilliant hope it is, that I cannot help but raise my heart and voice and hands in worship. Shall I hide such a marvelous hope under a bushel? Even the children understand this as they sing....NO!
I'm gonna let it shine!

Vintage Antique Sale Finds

Lancaster Sunday by Ann Mount
Lancaster Sunday

This past weekend my husband and I were perusing the news online and I found an advertisement for a local Vintage Antique Sale held on a local farm in their Barn. In one of those blessed impromptu moments he asked if I wanted to go...well of course I wanted to go!

It was a lovely day in the 80's warm with a nice breeze and we had such a good time. There were 47 vendors from around the area that had booths displaying their wares. We wandered around the old farm house listening to blue grass music, while some rested in the shade on hay bales, sipping ice cold lemonade. Some Mennonite women were selling their baked goods, which I hear sells out every year. Of course I saw the front porch swing too late as it had a SOLD tag on it.

I did come across something I have been wanting for a long time.
As kids we lived in an agricultural valley with strawberry fields and orange groves and pumpkin patches. After doing the evening dishes, the job of picking the oranges and juicing them for breakfast fell to my sister and I. At first using an old fashioned glass juicer was a novetly , but after our hands froze in place like a claw (makes me think of Jerry Lewis) Dad had pity on us and bought an old fasioned clamp type juicer. The kind where you lift the dome, place in the orange half and then pull the lever down to juice it. It worked great if you remembered to take your hand out first :)

Well, it was somewhat of an improvement at the time.

Now that I'm no juicing for an army, I have been wanting a glass juicer, and finally came across one at the Vintage Antique sale.. for only $2.00! I snatched that one up quick and then to my surprise saw 2 more in other areas, but they wanted $8.00! My dear husband was pleased!
A glass of fresh squeezed grapfruit juice...ahhhh!

I also came across a FREE table with all sorts of items on a table. It was towards the end of the day and the vendor was quite smart to place this table at the back of her area. I saw many nice things there and took one of her flyers, I will have to go visit her shop. But as for now I found a free glass jar like others in my collection, and a free scoop, both of which I have been hoping to find to display my rose petals.

All in all, it was a simply wonderful afternoon.

Our Daily Bread

Daily Bread
Daily Bread

Be not ye therefore like unto them:
for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of,
before ye ask him.

After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 6:8-13

Independance Day

We know that freedom is not free. So we bow our heads and ask God Almighty to protect our troops as they fight to keep us protected. A thank you seems so small in comparison to what you are doing, but you will know in heaven all those that have been praying for you. May God's angels guard you and His Holy Spirit comfort you and your families. Our family has known the heartaches of war as well, but I thank God that I can leave you in His hands,
for those are hands that will never leave you or forsake you!
Lord have mercy on our Nation and please come quickly!
Precious in His sight are the death of His saints!

Let your heart sing!

Three Young Women Singing from Hymn Books in Church
Three Young Women Singing from Hymn Books in Church

Music was made to praise and worship God! I was awakened many times during the night by a storm that was blowing through. And each time I was awakened the chorus to this song ran through my head. I so love it when the words to a song minsiter to my heart, and encourage don't you?

The soul that is in Love with Jesus Christ must sing! Anonymous~

"My Redeemer Lives"
Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning?
and Who told the ocean you can only come this far?
and Who showed the moon where to hide 'til evening?
Whose words alone can catch a falling star?

Well I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives:
All of creation testifies
This life within me cry
I know my Redeemer lives, yeah.

The very same God that
spins things in orbit
runs to the weary,
the worn and the weak
And the same gentle hands
that hold me when I'm broken
They conquered death to bring me victory

Now I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
Let all creation testify
Let this life within we cry
I know my Redeemer,
He lives to take away my shame
And He lives forever,
I'll proclaim that the payment for my sin
Was the precious life He gave
But now He's alive and
There's an empty grave.

And I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
Let all creation testify
Let this life within me cry
I know my Redeemer, I know my Redeemer

I know my Redeemer lives I know my Redeemer lives
I know that I know that I know
that I know that I know my redeemer lives
Because He lives I can face tomorrow
I Know I know He lives He lives yeah, yeah
I spoke with him this morning
He lives He lives,
the tomb is empty,
He lives I gotta tell everybody!

Thank You All

In reply to all the kind comments on the last Simple Woman Day Book Entry....
Thank you all so much for the kind words and encouragement,
and prayers on behalf of my back.
  • Yes the Lord slowed me down for His reasons, I am sure of it!
  • Yes, I would LOVE to dive into the snow scene in the last post, however I don't think it would be good for the back and winter will proabably be here before I know it so I need to stop whining.
  • Yes, it was in the 90's but we didn't have near the humidity they have in the South. However today it is to be 89 with Thunder and Lighting storms headed our way from Oregon and that will raise the humidity....I know....stop whining!
  • Thanks so much for the prayers and the blessings.
  • As for the potato comment....Lauren found a potato in her collection for dinner inscribed with an icthus and I asked her if it was from our great state of Idaho
  • Danke meinen Sohn! Siehst du im Bild den Krueuz am Berg?
  • Translation.. Thank you MY SON, Do you see the Cross on the Mountain in the picture?
May the Lord Bless you all too, as He has blessed me through you!
